| December 2009 The Streeters celebrated Christmas again this year by spreading cheer and good wishes to area nursing homes and people less fortunate. First, our members enjoyed socializing at a gift wrapping party at a local diner. The gifts may not have been wrapped perfectly, but we had fun working together. Then, the members, along with Santa, distributed the gifts of blankets to residents of the Willows Nursing Home in Valparaiso, IN and later, at the Colonial Nursing Home in Crown Point, IN. We know the residents of these two nursing homes enjoyed our visit, and the time spent was very rewarding for us.
December 2009 This Christmas the Streeters also hosted a pizza party for clients of the Arc Bridges organization. Arc Bridges helps the developmentally disabled through training and work opportunities, as well as social involvement. The party ended with Wal-Mart gift certificates, provided by the club, being presented to the clients. These gift cards will help the folks meet some of their needs. Homemade desserts from the members made for a sweet ending to the afternoon.
8/7/09 Ice Cream Cruise-In The Streeters hosted their 3rd Annual Ice Cream Cruise-In to benefit local area food banks. The Club matched donations given that night as well as added monies from the 50/50 raffle. Hot dogs and all the trimmings were provided as well as any ice cream treat anyone could desire. Banana splits were the favorite. Music played by club DJs helped to set the mood, as well as the atmosphere of the replica 50's Diner where the event was held again this year. Our special guests were the doo wop group Remember When. They entertained throughout the evening to the delight of all present. The group performed at no charge to the club so more money could be given to the food banks. Our thanks to the Stash family for the use of the diner, and for donation all the ice cream again this year. We also thank the area car people for coming out and supporting this event again this year.
8/ 4 / '09 Cruisn' for Camp Quality/ Frankfort, IL This marked the fifteenth year of the Camp Quality " Kids with cancer " car cruise. The Streeters have supported this outing along with Camp Quality from the beginning. This year there were 98 vehicles of all descriptions taking part. Each vehicle takes a camper along with their counselor on a cruise to downtown Frankfort for ice cream treats and returns them later in the evening. Members Ric and Pat Bellmonte cruised with camper Denise and counselor Sutton. Wally Woldt cruised with camper Laith and counselor Jim. Perfect weather made for an enjoyable evening for all.
5/ 16 / '09 Hudson Homecoming / Shipshewana, IN What started out as a rainy drive on the Indiana Toll Road this early morning, turned into a sunny day here at Shipshewana, Indiana. The Amish were everywhere with their horses and buggies. An antique festival was also in progress, so there was activity everywhere in town. We came to see the Hudsons and see them we did. The Hudson Museum houses the Hostetler collection made up of fifty plus Hudsons restored to pristine condition. We were given a private tour by no other than Mr. Eldon Hostetler himself. A wonderful gentleman with so many stories and facts about these cars. It was on to downtown for the Hudson parade. The sun came out just as the parade started with Mr. Hostetler up front driving a Hudson race car. We finished the day with dinner at the famous Essen-Haus restaurant. 5/ 14 / '09 Cruise-In / Life Care Center, Valparaiso, IN On this sunny Thursday afternoon Streeters members brightened the day for folks living at the Life Care Center in Valparaiso. They enjoyed looking at the member's cars and basking in the sunshine. 3/ 28/ '09 Shop Tour / Rad Rides by Troy, Mantino, IL This was the Streeters second tour in the last few years to this amazing shop. The design and engineering that goes on here has produced major award winning cars across the country including the Riddler Award among many others. Their building of the '70 Nova " Notorious " is featured in this April's edition of Goodguys Magazine as Muscle Machine Of The Year. Troy Trepanier, his father Jack, and PR man Max Kinast showed us the hospitality of true midwesterners. Spending time explaining their innovations and answering all our questions. They truly made our visit enjoyable as well as knowledgable. Thanks guys!

Mud volleyball, auto show, weed wacker pullers, demolition derby, bluegrass music, arts & crafts, chicken noodle dinner, softball tournament. Great weather to boot.
8/ 2 / '08 2nd Annual Streeters Ice Cream Cruise-In: Perfect weather and plenty of food and ice cream greeted the many members of the car community who came out to support our charity fundraiser this summer. This social raised funds for Jamie Rodriguez's hospital bills. Jamie, from Hobart, was attacked by a fellow student and severely injured. Our club offered to match all donations given during the social. The total raised for Jamie was $2500.00. Our thanks to everyone who came out. A special thanks to the whole Don Stash family and friends who worked so hard, and also to our Streeter members and wives for helping and baking all the delicious desserts. 8/ 8/ '08 Cruzin' For Camp Quality, Frankfort, IL: Streeters for many years have supported this camp for kids with cancer. Our club were again major sponsors of this worthwhile charity. 3 / 15 / '08 Streeters bring their shovels and saws to help Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited. On this cold and windy Saturday many of our members came to spread 69 tons of sand and clear out overgrown vines and fallen trees from a horse stable in Hobart, IN. The stable is used by a Nonprofit organization called Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited. EEU provides educational and therapeutic horseback riding activities to the handicapped for an improved quality of life using professional instructors and trained volunteers in a safe and secure environment. Over a 100 people are enrolled, most of whom are children. Their program is due to start in early April, but the indoor arena was flooded and froze solid due to a leaking roof and lack of fill. Our members have helped EEU in the past and sprang into action. Led by Dick Cooper, who got the sand donated and also worked to get the roof repaired, members spread sand, cut down fallen trees, cleared brush to get the property ready for the spring program. Our thanks to Dave Austgen of Austgen Equipment Inc., Griffith,IN for donating the sand and delivery. Also to Jeff Cooper for bringing his Bobcat which made it much easier to move this much sand. Thanks to the women from EEU for the breakfast and lunch provided. We enjoyed helping out. EEU has a Website for anyone seeking information. www.eeucenter.org
